Maya rendering of the Qumran reconstruction

QUMRAN

The well-known site of Khirbet Qumran is the ancient settlement associated with the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Sitting on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea in the West Bank, the site has been the subject of decades of scholarly archaeological study. With funding from Steven Spielberg's Righteous Persons Foundation, the San Diego Natural History Museum, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and the UCLA Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures, the model provided many new insights into the nature and origin of the settlement at Qumran.

William M. Schniedewind (UCLA), Aaron A. Burke (UCLA), Robert R. Cargill (UCLA).
